Happy 110th birthday to Tsarevich Alexei Nikolaevich Romanov of Russia!

Alexei Nikolaevich of the House of Romanov, was the Tsarevich and heir apparent to the throne of the Russian Empire. Alexei was a simple, affectionate child and was like any boy who liked to play with toy guns, and canons and run around and get dirty. Alexei grew to be quite tall for his age, with long thin oval face and gentle features, wonderful light chestnut hair with tinges of bronze, and big grey-blue eyes like his mother’s. He had a lively mind and strong opinions, and was also very thoughtful. It soon emerged however, that the young boy suffered from haemophilia. They said he wouldn’t live up to his teenage years.

Alexei Romanov was well aware that he might not live to adulthood. When he was ten, his older sister Olga found him lying on his back looking at the clouds and asked him what he was doing. “I like to think and wonder,” Alexei replied. Olga asked him what he liked to think about. “Oh, so many things,” the boy responded. “I enjoy the sun and the beauty of summer as long as I can. Who knows whether one of these days I shall not be prevented from doing it?”
"An unforgettable and great day, on which we received so evident a sign of God’s love. At a quarter past one in the afternoon, Alix had a son, who was named Alexei during prayers" - Tsar Nicholas II
Alexei Nikolaevich Romanov was brutally murdered (along with the rest of his family) at the age of only fourteen years old. Happy birthday and Rest in Peace.

On this day, during this night in 1918. The Romanov Family were murdered brutally…ending over 300 years of Royal Russia - The Romanov Dynasty / Династия Романовыхty. This will be the 96th anniversary of their death. The family was awoken by the Bolsheviks late at night. The evil men said that the White Army was approaching and they must be moved immediately for safety. The Romanov family were led down some eery stairs and into a small room in the basement. They were told to wait until the motor cars arrived. But no cars ever appeared. When they entered the room Nicholas asked “No chairs? Shall we not sit?” so Yakov Yurovsky (the leader) demanded his men to get two chairs, one of Nicholas and Alexei and one of the Empress. Yakov told the family, doctor and three servants that the Russian people thought they have escaped so he wanted them to position themselves for a photograph so he can prove to them they have not escaped. As he positioned them he then proceeded to say “Your relations have tried to save you. They have failed and now we must shoot you.” Nicholas was stunned, of course, and he asked “What?! What? Repeat?!” but it was too late. They got stripped, bayoneted, shot. Rest in Peace- Empress Alexandra Feodorovna (46), Emperor Nicholas II (50), Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna Romanov (22), Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaevna Romanov (21), Grand Duchess Marie Nikolaevna Romanov (19), Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanov (17) and young Tsarevich Alexei Nikolaevich Romanov (13). Way too beautiful and passed away way too young.

“The atmosphere around us is fairly electrified. We feel that a storm is approaching. But we know that God is merciful…our souls are at peace. Whatever happens will be through God’s will” Alexandra had written to Anna Vyrubova (a family friend) a few days before leaving Tobolsk for Ekaterinburg…to their death.
